Alaska - Art

Alaska Trip 2012... September, a beautiful month to visit Alaska... Vivid colors, Crazy clouds, and the hustle an bustle of the Alaskan People preparing for the winter. During the day, while my son was at work, an my hubby was off getting ready for his Moose hunt, I found myself looking for opportunities to go take pictures... and was not disappointed. I jumped in the truck with my little dog Sophie, and went for a drive. My first time out I ended up at North Pole, just 15/20 min out of Fairbanks. I stopped at Santa's House of course, and then continued looking for photo ops. Just a few min away, I found Chena Lakes Park. Sophie and I spent the better part of the day walking and driving around, and had so much fun taking pictures. Tree's, the water, a guy an his little red boat, the reflections, and no swimming sign.... Then I had to get back to catch up with the family. Several days later, I drove NE to a place where I could take pictures of the Salcha River... and the Salcha River State Recreation Park. Sophie and I had the most wonderful time walking around the park, and along the boat ramp, and also along the rivers edge. I was amazed at how smooth the water was here, and how glorious the reflections in waters were! We spent about an hour there at the park... an on the way back to the truck we had the funniest thing happen! Sophie had her nose to the ground, and was trotting along the path minding her own business, when this squirrel ran down this tree till it found a branch about ten feet up, that would work for a perch... This little guy was chattering a hundred miles an hour at Sophie and Sophie returned the gesture with some excited little barks of her own! Now, what made this so humorous, this was a full grown squirrel, maybe 3-3 1/2 lbs, just goin off! An Sophie, is a tiny poodle, that weighs almost 5 lbs, is goin off as if to say that she has the the right to walk there.... And then Sophie turns and off she goes... I'm done with this! I just had to laugh, take a few pics of the chatterbox, and back to the truck we go. On the way back, I noticed what was called the slough...
